IDLE FINANCE (IDLE) FAQ
What is the relationship between Idle Finance and Pareto Credit?
Idle Finance has officially evolved into Pareto Credit. This transition represents a strategic shift from a general yield aggregator to a specialized credit coordination layer for decentralized finance. While the protocol maintains its core yield optimization values, the new identity focuses on institutional lending and private credit marketplaces. Pareto introduces Credit Vaults and a new synthetic dollar known as USP to serve the needs of institutional borrowers and lenders.
How does the IDLE to PAR token migration process work?
The protocol is transitioning from the IDLE token to the new PAR token on a 1:1 basis. A snapshot of all IDLE and stkIDLE balances was taken in January 2025 to determine the allocation of PAR tokens. Users were required to move their holdings to the Ethereum Mainnet before this snapshot to ensure a seamless migration. The Token Generation Event (TGE) for the PAR token is scheduled for the end of the first quarter of 2025.
What are the core mechanics of Yield Tranches and the Best Yield strategy?
The Best Yield strategy uses an automated algorithm to rebalance funds across various leading decentralized lending protocols to secure the highest interest rates. Yield Tranches offer customized risk management: Senior Tranches provide lower risk and are protected by capital in Junior Tranches, while Junior Tranches offer higher rewards for absorbing potential losses. Rebalancing occurs every few hours, depending on network congestion and yield fluctuations, to ensure optimal performance.
What are the differences between IDLE, stkIDLE, and veIDLE?
IDLE is the protocol's liquid governance token. stkIDLE is the staked version of IDLE, allowing holders to earn protocol fees and a share of rewards; these holders often receive bonus allocations during transitions. veIDLE, or Vote-Escrowed IDLE, is used to exercise governance voting power and boost rewards in specific pools. While standard staking typically has no hard lockup, committing to veIDLE involves a lockup period of up to four years for maximum voting influence.
What security measures are in place to protect users from protocol risks?
Established in 2019, the protocol is a veteran in the DeFi space and has been audited by several industry-leading security firms. To protect depositors from potential failures in underlying lending protocols, the system utilizes Junior Tranches as a 'shield.' In the event of a default or exploit, Junior holders lose their funds first to cover the losses of Senior holders. The protocol generally applies a 10% performance fee on the yield generated rather than the principal.
What is the USP synthetic dollar and its staked version, sUSP?
USP is a synthetic stablecoin minted 1:1 against other stablecoins, but it is unique because it is backed by real-world institutional credit. The staked version, sUSP, functions like a high-yield savings account within the ecosystem. The yield for sUSP is derived from the interest paid by institutional borrowers on the Pareto platform, providing users with exposure to private credit market returns through a decentralized stablecoin model.
