WrappedM by M^0 (WM) is a decentralized, over-collateralized stablecoin designed to maintain a stable peg to the US Dollar. It is native to the blockchain and aims to provide capital efficiency and yield generation. WM is an ERC-20 wrapped token on the Ethereum ecosystem, representing M^0's native asset in a format compatible with Ethereum-based decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols. This allows holders of the original asset to access Ethereum's smart contracts, liquidity pools, and other decentralized services without losing its value peg.
WM is generated when users deposit an accepted collateral asset into a smart contract vault on WrappedM by M^0. Users can then mint WM against their collateral, creating a decentralized line of credit. The M^0 protocol itself serves as both the minting and management platform for WM and a liquid staking protocol. This dual functionality enables users to stake assets for network security while receiving a liquid token (LCRO) that can be used elsewhere in DeFi. The wrapper contracts allow for control over the yield earned on assets within protocols.
Key features include DeFi compatibility, allowing it to work with lending platforms, AMMs, and other protocols that require standard ERC-20 token behavior. It also preserves the yield-earning capabilities of the underlying M token and aims for a direct value link to M for earners. The system is designed to maintain a solvency invariant, ensuring it is always fully backed. WM also offers flexible yield options and delegated administration for managing earner status without governance.
Users can earn rewards by depositing WM stablecoins into the WrappedM by M^0 Stability Pool. This action makes capital available to absorb debt from liquidated collateralized debt positions (CDPs). In exchange for providing this liquidity, users earn rewards from two sources: discounted collateral from liquidated positions and continuous WM governance token emissions. The yield for staking WM is variable and depends on liquidation events and WM token emissions.
WrappedM by M^0 has undergone audits by security firms. However, like all DeFi protocols, it carries inherent risks, including smart contract bugs and economic exploits. Users are advised to do their own research before participating.
If a vault is liquidated, deposited WM is burned proportionally to the user's share of the pool to pay off the liquidated vault's debt. In return, the user receives a proportional amount of the vault's collateral at a discount.
