Sable Finance is a decentralized, non-custodial stablecoin protocol. It allows users to mint the stablecoin USDS (formerly SUSD) by providing collateral such as BNB and Liquid Staking Derivatives (LSDs). Originally launched on the BNB Chain, the protocol focuses on capital efficiency and decentralization. It is a pure Web3 project and is not affiliated with any defunct legacy banking institutions or fintech companies.
While inspired by established stablecoin models, Sable Finance differentiates itself through multi-chain functionality and broader collateral support. Unlike older protocols that may limit users to a single asset type, Sable supports various Liquid Staking Derivatives (LSDs) and operates across multiple ecosystems including BNB Chain and Arbitrum. This approach allows users to maintain exposure to yield-bearing assets while accessing liquidity.
SABLE serves as the protocol’s governance and revenue-sharing token. Holders can stake their tokens to earn a portion of the borrowing and redemption fees generated by the system. Additionally, users can provide liquidity on exchanges like LBank to earn rewards. In the V2 ecosystem, token holders participate in governance voting to determine protocol parameters and the whitelisting of new collateral assets.
Sable Finance utilizes a unique "one-time fee" model instead of a variable interest rate. When a user mints the USDS stablecoin, they pay a single issuance fee (borrowing fee). This allows borrowers to maintain their positions for the long term without worrying about accruing interest over time. This model provides cost predictability and is a major draw for users seeking stable, long-term credit.
The protocol maintains a Minimum Collateral Ratio (MCR) of 110%. If a user's collateral value falls below this threshold, their position can be liquidated to ensure system stability. Furthermore, if the total system-wide collateral ratio drops below 150%, the protocol enters "Recovery Mode." During this phase, stricter liquidation rules are applied to encourage higher collateralization and bring the entire system back to a healthy state.
Sable V2 introduced a significant expansion into the multi-chain ecosystem, moving beyond its original home to support networks like Arbitrum and Base. A key focus of this update is the integration of Liquid Staking Derivatives Finance (LSDfi). This advancement allows users to utilize staked assets as collateral, enabling them to earn staking rewards while simultaneously using their assets to mint USDS across different blockchain environments.
