OpenEden TBILL is a Web3 project that offers a smart contract vault providing direct exposure to short-dated U.S. Treasury Bills (U.S. T-Bills) through its TBILL token. The project aims to bridge traditional finance with decentralized finance (DeFi) by making U.S. T-Bills accessible on-chain. Each TBILL token is backed on a 1:1 basis by U.S. T-Bills, along with a small portion of U.S. Dollar, held in segregated accounts by licensed custodians. This structure is designed to ensure transparency, security, and stability, offering a way for investors to earn U.S. T-Bills yield within the decentralized ecosystem. Investors can mint TBILL tokens by depositing USDC into the OpenEden TBILL Vault. The TBILL tokens are EIP-20 compliant and represent legal rights to the redemption value of the underlying assets in the Vault. The OpenEden project emphasizes regulatory compliance. Its token issuer, Hill Lights International Limited, is a professional fund regulated by the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission. The TBILL Fund has received ratings from S&P Global Ratings and Moody's, with its underlying U.S. T-Bills managed by BNY Mellon Investment Management and custodied by BNY. The platform provides 24/7 access to U.S. Treasury Bills and facilitates instant on-chain settlement, a contrast to the slower settlement times often seen in traditional finance. OpenEden also partners with institutional-grade entities like StoneX Financial and BNP Paribas for asset transactions and custody, and employs third-party auditors such as KPMG and Ernst & Young to maintain financial and operational standards. OpenEden TBILL is deployed on the Ethereum and Arbitrum networks, with plans for expansion to the XRP Ledger. Ripple has partnered with OpenEden, investing in TBILL tokens to integrate them onto the XRP Ledger, further expanding the reach of tokenized U.S. Treasury bills. The project aims to serve professional and institutional investors, including U.S. accredited investors, providing a secure and efficient avenue for on-chain cash management.
