Corn utilizes a dual-layer security model that combines Bitcoin-based security through Babylon with Ethereum's staking security. The network's gas token, BTCN, is backed 1:1 by Bitcoin held with trusted, regulated custodians like BitGo and Coinbase. This structure ensures that the network benefits from the security of the two largest blockchains while providing transparency for its tokenized assets.
The ecosystem features a dual-token system: BTCN and $CORN. BTCN is the gas token used for transaction fees and is pegged 1:1 to Bitcoin. $CORN is the native governance and yield token. Users can stake their $CORN to receive popCORN, which grants voting rights within the ecosystem. This allows participants to decide how network emissions and fees are distributed, creating a community-driven economic flywheel known as the Crop Circle.
Kernels are loyalty points that determine a user's share of the future $CORN airdrop. They can be earned by depositing supported assets like wBTC, cbBTC, or stablecoins into designated 'Silos.' Users can maximize their earnings through multipliers by depositing specific liquid staking tokens, completing social missions on the Galxe platform, and utilizing the referral system. Early participants of partner protocols may also be eligible for a starting 'Signing Bonus.'
The network is currently in its 'Maizenet' early access phase.
