Stellar uses the unique Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP) instead of traditional mining or staking. SCP relies on "Quorum Slices," where each network node selects a group of other nodes it trusts. Consensus is achieved rapidly when these overlapping trust circles collectively agree on the validity of a transaction.
