South Korea’s Lotte Group Brings 1M Vouchers to Blockchain with Aptos Integration

Daehong Communications, a subsidiary of South Korea’s retail giant Lotte Group, has a “money movement” ecosystem powered by Aptos, a high-performance blockchain.

In the first phase of this integration, the company has brought its popular mobile voucher service, Giftiel, onto the Aptos blockchain. The initiative is a practical step in using blockchain technology to enhance real-world economic activities, such as loyalty points, vouchers, and even future use cases involving stablecoins.

With over 500,000 users already on board and more than 1 million vouchers issued, Daehong Communications is leveraging blockchain to bring transparency, security, and traceability to a massive retail and voucher economy.

The integration leverages Aptos’ Layer 1 blockchain, designed for high throughput and low-latency transactions. This allows Giftiel’s entire voucher lifecycle from issuance and distribution to redemption to be fully recorded on-chain.

Every voucher, transaction, and user interaction is transparently captured, offering real-time insights into usage and ownership.

Aptos’ fast and scalable infrastructure could help businesses gain more precise operational data. At the same time, consumers will benefit from secure, verifiable ownership of their digital vouchers.

The “Money Movement” ecosystem extends far beyond simple vouchers. It envisions a framework that allows for the creation, transfer, and use of various digital assets, such as loyalty points, mileage, and stablecoins.

By recording all transaction histories on the blockchain, the platform ensures verifiable and transparent management of these assets. This makes it easier for businesses to track usage and optimize customer engagement.

Kang Tae-ho, Head of the Future Growth Division at Daehong Communications, noted that the initiative will help users gain better control over their digital assets, with transparent management that goes beyond simple benefits. The ecosystem’s long-term vision includes broader Web3 adoption, especially as regulations around stablecoins evolve.

The soft launch of the Giftiel blockchain integration has already delivered tangible results, with 500,000+ users already engaged in the platform. This shows the potential of blockchain to bring real-world applications to life without requiring users to have deep technical knowledge of Web3.

Solomon Tesfaye, Chief Business Officer of Aptos Labs, highlighted the tangible business value provided by this blockchain integration. He also emphasized how Aptos’ infrastructure enables enterprises like Lotte to innovate at scale.

The project’s success in Korea could also set the stage for other global companies to adopt blockchain technologies in a variety of sectors, from customer rewards to commerce services.

As part of its broader vision, Daehong Communications plans to expand its collaboration with Aptos Labs, with additional technical and marketing efforts to increase blockchain adoption in the real economy.

The integration of Giftiel on Aptos is just the beginning, with the potential for future applications ranging from tokenized assets to stablecoin transactions as the ecosystem matures.

As part of its transparency initiative, users and businesses can access real-time data related to Giftiel’s blockchain transactions through the Aptos Explorer.

Developed by Web3 solutions provider Xangle, this tool allows for the tracking of key information, such as voucher details, transaction history, and user statistics. The platform’s easy access to real-time data promises to be a powerful resource for businesses and consumers.
