OKB is a global utility token issued by its originating exchange. It is designed to connect prospective digital asset projects to platform users and provide exclusive benefits within its ecosystem. Originally an ERC-20 token, it has evolved significantly to become the native gas token for X Layer, the platform’s high-performance Ethereum Layer 2 network, underscoring its dual role in both user perks and technical infrastructure.

In a strategic move to enhance scarcity and mirror Bitcoin’s limited supply, the issuing platform conducted a historic burn of over 65 million OKB tokens from its reserves in August 2025. This event permanently fixed the total supply at 21 million OKB. This substantial reduction in circulating supply aimed to position OKB as one of the most scarce utility tokens in the market, contributing to its long-term value proposition.
