Shiba Inu Launches ShibDAO to Enable Full Community-Driven Governance

Shiba Inu has officially launched ShibDAO and established a comprehensive governance framework that aims to shift decision-making power from centralized entities to the community. The system introduces multiple layers of participation through on-chain staking, gasless voting, and delegation mechanisms.

The launch marks a change toward decentralized governance where community members holding , BONE, LEASH, or TREAT tokens can directly influence ecosystem development. According to the announcement, the system removes “backroom deals” by providing transparent voting mechanisms tied to token commitment levels.

On-chain staking drives voting power through Bury 2.0, which allows holders to lock tokens for specified periods. The staking duration and amount determine voting influence and create incentives for long-term commitment to the ecosystem rather than short-term speculation.

ShibDAO operates through four distinct governance bodies, each focused on specific areas within the ecosystem. Shib DAO oversees community projects, charitable initiatives, user experience improvements, and event coordination. This branch handles broader community-facing activities and strategic direction.

Bone DAO focuses on technical governance, voting on Shibarium upgrades, and development proposals. As BONE serves as the gas token for Shibarium, this DAO plays an important role in the Layer 2 network’s evolution and technical roadmap decisions.

Leash DAO handles governance disputes and conflict resolution within the ecosystem. This specialized function offers a structured approach to resolving disagreements and maintaining ecosystem cohesion as the community expands.

Treat DAO concentrates on funding innovation and decentralized application development. This branch allocates resources to expand the ecosystem’s utility and attract new builders to the platform.

Off-chain voting operates through Snapshot, which allows proposal creation and voting without gas fees. This ensures governance participation remains accessible to smaller token holders who might be deterred by transaction costs. The platform uses real-time on-chain staking data to calculate voting weights.

The delegation system addresses participation barriers for community members who lack the time to evaluate every proposal. Token holders can delegate their voting power to trusted community leaders while retaining the ability to reclaim control at any time.

This feature allows busy community members to maintain governance influence through representatives they trust. At the same time, they also allow active participants to accumulate additional voting power from those who delegate to them.

The DAO Factory component, accessible through Name Service (SNS), allows community members to create their own DAOs for specific purposes. These can range from gaming projects and art initiatives to DeFi protocols and public goods funding.
