jAsset jUSD is a decentralized, over-collateralized stablecoin native to the Jellyverse ecosystem on the Sei Network. It maintains its stability through a mechanism where users must deposit collateral worth more than the jUSD they mint, typically requiring a minimum collateral ratio of 110%. If the value of jUSD deviates from its target, arbitrageurs are incentivized to mint or redeem the token to restore its peg, ensuring it remains aligned with the value of the US Dollar.

The protocol supports a diverse range of collateral to back the minting of jUSD. Currently, users can utilize assets such as SEI, wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC), wrapped Ethereum (wETH), and the native JLY token. This multi-collateral approach allows participants to maintain exposure to their existing holdings while generating liquidity in the form of a stable asset within the Sei Network.

A primary feature of jUSD is its 0% interest rate model. Instead of accruing ongoing interest on a loan, the protocol charges a one-time issuance fee when a position is opened and a redemption fee when it is closed. This structure provides a cost-effective way for users to access liquidity without the burden of compounding interest debt over time.

To ensure protocol security, jUSD utilizes a Minimum Collateral Ratio (MCR) of 110%. If the value of a user's collateral drops below this threshold relative to their debt, the position is subject to liquidation. In this scenario, the Stability Pool—funded by other users—pays off the debt. In return, pool participants receive the liquidated collateral at a discount, which helps maintain the overall solvency of the system.

Users can earn rewards by depositing jUSD into the Stability Pool, which provides two main benefits: liquidation gains from discounted collateral and JLY governance token emissions. Additionally, JLY holders can stake their tokens to receive a portion of the protocol fees generated from minting and redemptions. jUSD can also be utilized for yield farming and liquidity provision on decentralized exchanges within the ecosystem.
