The token also facilitates decentralized governance, allowing holders to vote on protocol upgrades and ecosystem changes. To support the token economy, a buy-back program allocates 30% of protocol revenue to $RIZ.
The network utilizes two distinct node types to maintain its infrastructure. zNodes act as validators and the "security backbone," requiring a purchased license to operate. They are responsible for tracking data flows, flagging malicious activity, and providing governance rights with higher reward tiers. Conversely, rClients are storage nodes that do not require a license. These can be run on standard consumer hardware, allowing community members to earn rewards by contributing storage and computational resources to the DePIN layer.
Rivalz introduced two paths for node operators during the node sale to provide flexibility. The "Burn" option allowed operators to liquidate their position for a quick payout, receiving 50% of their allocated tokens immediately at the Token Generation Event. In contrast, the "Hold" option is designed for long-term participants who choose to run their nodes. These operators receive 100% of their allocation via a 2-year emission schedule, plus higher operational rewards and eligibility for exclusive ecosystem airdrops.
Staking involves two versions of the token with different liquidity rules. Staking native $RIZ typically requires a 14-day lockup period before tokens can be withdrawn. $wRIZ (Wrapped RIZ) is a version often used for node rewards that can be staked with no lockup period. however, converting $wRIZ back to $RIZ involves a fee-based "unwrapping" process. The fee depends on the chosen withdrawal speed, ranging from a 0% fee for a 90-day waiting period to a 25% fee for an accelerated 30-day unwrap.
The Season 1 airdrop allocated 7% of the total supply to reward early supporters. Eligible participants included Testnet users who earned points through rClient operations or social engagement. Strategic allocations were also made for $DYM stakers (minimum 150 DYM) and holders of partner projects like Chainlink, Aethir, and Puffer Finance. The claim period for these rewards was active from February 21 to March 14, 2025, after which any unclaimed tokens were burned to manage the total supply.
