What is LiquidOps (LQD)?

LiquidOps (LQD) is a decentralized finance, or DeFi, project that operates as an overcollateralized lending and borrowing protocol. It is built upon Arweave's Layer 2 computation layer, known as AO. The primary function of LiquidOps is to enable users to deposit various digital assets into liquidity pools to earn interest. In turn, users can also borrow assets by providing collateral that exceeds the value of their loan. The protocol employs a pool-based lending system where contributors add assets to common pools, rather than engaging in direct peer-to-peer lending. Those who supply assets receive oTokens, which are interest-bearing tokens representing their lending position and accumulating interest from borrower fees. These oTokens can additionally be utilized as collateral for further borrowing of supported assets. LiquidOps manages its interest rates using a Jump Rate Interest Model, which adjusts rates based on how much an asset is being utilized within each pool. The system is designed to gradually increase rates at lower utilization and sharply increase them when utilization surpasses a certain threshold to encourage more deposits and manage borrowing demand. To manage risk, the protocol enforces overcollateralization requirements and includes an auction-based liquidation system that activates if collateral values drop below set thresholds. A notable aspect of LiquidOps is its integration with Arweave's permanent storage capabilities, ensuring that all transactions, loan histories, and liquidation events are permanently recorded on the permaweb. Furthermore, the protocol leverages AO's parallel computing layer to allow its processes, such as interest rate updates, to operate autonomously without requiring external intervention. The LQD token serves as the native governance token for the LiquidOps ecosystem. It has a maximum supply of 50,000,000 tokens. Holders of LQD tokens can participate in the protocol's governance, including voting on various parameters, asset listings, and treasury decisions, effectively transitioning the platform towards a community-governed model. The distribution of LQD tokens is allocated for purposes such as DAO treasury management, liquidity mining rewards, fair launches on AO, and supporting founders and foundational activities. The project has achieved development milestones including securing funding, launching a testnet, and deploying a mainnet beta. LiquidOps also provides developer tools like a JavaScript SDK for integration. Learn more

LiquidOps (LQD) FAQ

LiquidOps is an over-collateralized lending and borrowing protocol operating on the Arweave and AO ecosystems. It functions as a decentralized money market, enabling users to supply digital assets to liquidity pools to earn interest or to borrow assets by providing collateral that exceeds the loan's value.
The protocol uses a pool-based lending system where lenders contribute assets to common pools. Borrowers secure loans by posting over-collateralized digital assets, retaining ownership of their collateral while accessing liquidity. LiquidOps employs a Jump Rate Interest Model where rates adjust based on utilization, alongside a Dutch auction mechanism for liquidations to maintain solvency.
The LQD token primarily serves as a governance token for the LiquidOps protocol. Holders of LQD can participate in decision-making by proposing and voting on changes, such as adding new assets, adjusting interest rates, or modifying collateral factors. LQD also enables vote delegation and user incentivization within the ecosystem.
LQD has a maximum supply of 50,000,000 tokens. Its distribution is allocated among the DAO, protocol treasury, and oToken reserves, with overall governance controlled by the token holders.
LiquidOps was co-founded by Lorimer Jenkins (CEO), who previously contributed to Othent, and Marton Lederer (CTO), known for founding ArConnect. Their combined experience forms the core leadership of the project.
LiquidOps has successfully raised $325,000 in pre-seed funding, launched a public testnet, and is set to initiate its Mainnet Beta in March 2025. The project has garnered significant interest, with over 1,500 users and $50 million in liquidity registered on its waitlist.
