Baseline is an automated token economic engine designed for ERC20 tokens. Market-Making Mechanism
Baseline fosters the natural growth of its underlying token BLV's value through a permissionless market-making system. With a series of liquidity operations, anyone can rebalance the liquidity owned by the protocol across three Uniswap V3 positions without permission whenever the token price exceeds certain thresholds. These market-making operations are trustless and deterministic, allowing anyone to trigger liquidity rebalancing, with the underlying liquidity structure's changes being a predetermined pattern. This reduces potential information asymmetry around liquidity rebalancing, helping to keep the market fair, predictable, and transparent.
Credit Facilities
Leveraging Baseline's native credit facilities allows holders to immediately access the full value of their BLV tokens without selling them. When tokens are deposited into the credit facility, users can directly borrow underlying liquidity assets from the Uniswap pool, paying a fixed fee and term. Since the tokens deposited into the credit facility cannot be sold into the pool, the BLV borrowed does not lead to the protocol accumulating bad debt or affecting its ability to fulfill its liquidity obligations. Moreover, the system requires no market-driven loan liquidations, as the price will never fall below the borrowed value. Within Baseline's credit facility, loans only default if borrowers allow them to mature without repaying the loan within the term.
When borrowers fail to repay the loan, Baseline confiscates their deposited tokens, processing the situation as if the borrower sold their tokens at the BLV price. This means that upon loan maturity, borrowers forfeit any market premium of the BLV tokens, redistributing value to the remaining holders.
