Xandeum is a decentralized, scalable storage layer purpose-built for the Solana blockchain. It addresses the blockchain storage trilemma by offering a solution that is smart contract native and capable of scaling to exabytes. Unlike traditional storage, Xandeum allows decentralized applications to access data randomly and directly. Its primary goal is to support 'sedApps' (Storage-Enabled Decentralized Applications), which are platforms like decentralized social media or knowledge bases that require massive on-chain data capacity.
While many decentralized storage networks operate off-chain or as independent blockchains, Xandeum is natively integrated with Solana’s smart contracts. This design allows dApps to 'peek' and 'poke' data directly as if it were part of the Solana state. By integrating with the Agave client, Xandeum provides a seamless experience for developers, eliminating the complexity of bridging data between an external storage network and the primary compute layer.
XAND is the ecosystem's primary governance token, used for voting in the Xandeum DAO, managing the treasury, and approving network updates. In contrast, xandSOL is a Liquid Staking Token (LST). Users stake SOL to receive xandSOL, which allows them to maintain liquidity while earning standard staking rewards along with a share of the storage fees generated by the network. This dual-token system separates protocol governance from the utility of storage and liquid staking.
The XAND token serves as the core governance mechanism for the Xandeum DAO. Holders can lock their tokens for a minimum period to gain voting power, allowing them to influence treasury management, delegation strategies, and code updates. XAND is also central to the project's community incentive programs, which include multiple planned airdrops designed to reward engagement and long-term participation in the storage layer's growth.
Users can earn rewards by locking XAND in the DAO for governance participation. During the initial growth phases, early stakers may benefit from boosted rewards through the 'Hyperdrive' or 'Launchpad' stages. For technical users, running a Provider Node (pNode) allows them to earn Storage Income (STOINC). pNodes perform the actual work of storing data for the network and receive the vast majority of the storage fees paid by decentralized applications.
XAND is available for trading on LBank and other leading exchange platforms. The project is currently progressing through its development roadmap, with an Alpha release targeted for late 2025. The full Mainnet launch is projected to occur in the second quarter of 2026.
