This token acts as a receipt representing ownership of the staked PLS plus any accrued rewards. Unlike rebasing tokens, vPLS is value-accruing; the quantity in your wallet remains constant, but its exchange rate relative to PLS increases over time as rewards are added to the pool.
The protocol generates rewards by using staked PLS to run validators on the network. The block rewards earned by these validators are funneled back into the protocol pool.
