VoltSwap (VOLT) is a decentralized exchange (DEX) operating as the first major DEX within the Meter ecosystem. It functions as an automated market maker (AMM), allowing users to directly swap various cryptocurrencies from their wallets without intermediaries. The project is community-driven and was initiated by the Meter Foundation to highlight the capabilities of the Meter blockchain. VoltSwap is designed to facilitate the swapping of both stable and volatile assets, providing liquidity pools for efficient token exchanges. Key features of VoltSwap include fast transactions, low gas fees, and a design that is resistant to front-running. The underlying Meter Network supports a high transaction throughput, and transactions are ordered based on the time they are received by the network, rather than by gas prices. VoltSwap also offers cross-chain capabilities and enables the onboarding of various decentralized finance (DeFi) chains without requiring Know Your Customer (KYC) verification, utilizing Meter Passport for these functionalities. VoltSwap has evolved to incorporate the ve(3,3) model, which enhances the utility of the VOLT token and promotes more engaged community governance. This model aims to incentivize liquidity providers and encourage community participation in the protocol's governance. VOLT token holders can lock their tokens to obtain veVOLT, which is a non-fungible token (NFT) that grants boosted voting power. This power allows holders to influence which liquidity pools receive the most weekly VOLT emissions and to receive swap fees through a bribing mechanism. The governance structure is community-owned, with proposals and voting managed through VoltSwap Snapshot. Any user holding more than 300 VOLT tokens can initiate a proposal. The smart contracts and user interface for VoltSwap's ve(3,3) implementation were adapted from Dystopia on Polygon and have undergone audits. The total supply of VOLT is 100 million. The project provides various tutorials for users, covering aspects like adding liquidity, staking, voting, and bridging funds.
