USDBR (USDBR) FAQ
What is USDbr (USDBR)?
USDbr is a decentralized, synthetic algorithmic stablecoin native to the Berachain ecosystem, developed by the NOME Protocol. It is designed to maintain a 1:1 peg with the US Dollar. Unlike centralized stablecoins, it is an over-collateralized asset generated when users deposit collateral into smart contract vaults on the NOME Protocol.
Does the "br" in the name signify a link to the Brazilian Real?
No. Despite the "br" suffix, USDbr is pegged to the US Dollar rather than the Brazilian Real. The "br" refers to Berachain, the blockchain network where the protocol is natively built.
How does USDbr maintain its 1:1 USD peg?
The protocol utilizes a Stabilization Module. When the price rises above the peg, the module sells USDbr to absorb excess liquidity into Protocol-Owned Liquidity. When the price falls below the peg, these reserves are used to support the value. Furthermore, the system is over-collateralized, meaning users must deposit assets of higher value than the amount of USDbr they mint.
What is the difference between USDBR and veUSDBR?
USDBR is the liquid stablecoin and governance token used within the ecosystem. In contrast, veUSDBR (vote-escrowed USDBR) is a non-transferable token obtained by locking USDBR for a specific period. It represents the user's voting power in the protocol's governance decisions.
How can users earn rewards within the USDbr ecosystem?
The primary method to earn rewards is by depositing USDBR into the Stability Pool, which helps maintain system solvency by absorbing debt from liquidated positions. Stakers earn a dual-yield consisting of discounted collateral from liquidated vaults and continuous protocol emissions in the form of governance tokens. Rewards must be manually claimed and redeposited for compounding.
Which wallets are compatible with USDbr?
Users can manage USDbr using any Web3-compatible wallet that supports the Berachain network. This includes popular options such as MetaMask and the LBank Wallet.
