On the digital level, it uses a decentralized ledger often referred to as the TrustChain or FoodChain. This blockchain records every significant event in a product's lifecycle, such as vaccinations, harvesting dates, processing details, and transport conditions. Because the data is stored on a blockchain, it is considered immutable and transparent, allowing stakeholders to verify the history and quality of the food they handle or consume. The TONE token is the native utility token of the TE-FOOD ecosystem. It serves as a fuel for the network, as all participants are required to use the token to pay for transaction fees and access various services. For example, supply chain companies use the token to log traceability data, while service providers might use it for the management and clearing of services within the platform. The token also functions as an incentive mechanism where participants can be rewarded for providing high quality data, such as detailed health records for livestock. Consumers can also interact with the ecosystem by scanning product QR codes to view a detailed history of the item, and in some cases, they may receive rewards for their engagement. The ecosystem involves several types of participants. Supply chain companies act as supernodes to maintain the network, while members of the broader community can operate masternodes to assist in data validation. Additionally, the project offers specialized tools for governments to monitor national livestock and manage food related outbreaks more effectively. By providing a unified platform for farmers, processors, retailers, and consumers, TE-FOOD seeks to build a more trust based food industry where quality and origin can be proven through data rather than just labels.
