Planet Mojo was a Web3 gaming metaverse project developed by Mystic Moose, a studio founded by veterans from gaming companies such as LucasArts, EA, and Activision. The project initially aimed to create a sustainable and evolving catalog of games where players could own their in-game assets and have a say in the project's direction. The ecosystem was set on a mysterious alien planet with an evolving narrative. Key components of the Planet Mojo universe included non-fungible tokens (NFTs) known as "Mojos," which are described as 3D plant creatures. These Mojos and other NFT characters, like Champions, could be used to participate in the various games. Initially built on the Polygon blockchain, Planet Mojo later announced a migration to Base, Coinbase's Layer-2 solution for Ethereum, to improve transaction speeds, reduce costs, and enhance interoperability. The project developed a suite of interconnected games, including Mojo Melee, a player-versus-player (PvP) auto chess battler; GoGo Mojo, a runner-style game; and Mojo Maker, a platform for customizing Mojos. An upcoming title, Prophecy of the Ancients, a squad-based action RPG, was also in development. The MOJO token served as the utility token for the Planet Mojo ecosystem, enabling token-gated products, services, and experiences, as well as being used for gameplay elements like tournament entry. However, on May 31, 2025, Planet Mojo announced it would be shutting down all its crypto games, including Mojo Melee and World Wide Agents (WWA), effective July 1, 2025. The team cited changing market realities as making it unsustainable to continue developing these games.
