Metarun, which was previously known as GoFungibles, is a blockchain-based mobile runner game that incorporates play-to-earn and play-to-win mechanics. Developed using Unreal Engine 5, the project focuses on providing a high-quality visual experience combined with web3 technology on the Binance Smart Chain. The gameplay centers on an endless runner format with two primary modes. In the single-player PvE mode, players navigate an endless course to collect in-game resources while dodging obstacles and defeating enemies. In the competitive PvP battle-run mode, three players race against each other in real-time, using tactical skills and character abilities to reach the finish line first. Players use NFT-based heroes that belong to different classes, such as Craftsman, Fighter, and Sprinter. Each class has distinct base statistics like health, mana, and speed, along with unique active and passive abilities. The MRUN token serves as the core utility asset within the ecosystem. It is a BEP-20 token used for various functions, including upgrading character levels, enhancing abilities, and evolving the visual appearance of skins. It is also used for minting upgraded characters as NFTs before they can be sold on secondary marketplaces. Additionally, the token is used to purchase battle passes, tournament tickets, and special NFT chests that contain rewards and artifacts. Players can also use the token to form teams or clans for ranked matches. Metarun operates with a dual-currency system where the MRUN token works alongside an in-game currency called OPAL. While players earn various resources during gameplay, OPAL is the specific currency that can be converted to the MRUN token. This allows players to earn through their participation in the game. The ecosystem also includes a cross-chain marketplace where users can trade, lend, or sell their NFT assets. Furthermore, the project offers staking programs where holders can lock their tokens to earn rewards, including character assets and exclusive access to certain game features. The game aims to provide true ownership of assets, meaning every hero or skin acquired by a player belongs to them. The project is developed by GoFungibles and has progressed through various testing phases, introducing ranked leagues and multiplayer modes to build a competitive community.
