The LYRA project has undergone a comprehensive rebranding and transformation into Derive (DRV). As of May 8, 2024, a snapshot was taken, and the original LYRA token no longer holds utility or governance value within the ecosystem. It has been replaced by the DRV token. If your wallet shows a zero value for LYRA, it is because the protocol has migrated to the new DRV token, which holders must claim to see their updated balance and utility.
The migration is a 1:1 claim process. Users who held LYRA or stkLYRA at the time of the May 2024 snapshot are eligible to claim the new DRV tokens via the official Derive Staking Portal. For users who held their tokens on LBank during the migration period, the exchange generally facilitates the swap automatically. If you are using a self-custody wallet, you must connect to the official portal to manually execute the claim.
stkLYRA was the staking derivative for the original Lyra protocol. In the updated ecosystem, users stake DRV to receive stDRV. Staking provides governance rights and rewards derived from a combination of protocol emissions and a 25% share of protocol revenue. This revenue is used for DRV buybacks, which are subsequently distributed to stakers, aligning token holder interests with the platform's performance.
The standard unstaking process for stDRV involves a 28-day waiting period. This cooldown period is designed to ensure protocol stability. If a user needs to access their funds immediately, an 'Instant Unlock' feature is available. However, using the instant unlock option typically incurs a 20% penalty on the staked amount, with the penalized funds remaining within the protocol ecosystem.
Derive has evolved from a decentralized application on external networks to its own dedicated Layer 2 chain built on the OP Stack. This dedicated infrastructure allows for high-performance derivatives trading. While the core product remains a decentralized options exchange, the platform has expanded to include 'programmable derivatives,' such as yield-bearing vaults and basis trading strategies, offering a more comprehensive suite of tools for traders.
