The migration window for LSK began on May 21, 2024, and is scheduled to close on May 21, 2026, so it is still open but expiring soon. To migrate your tokens, you must utilize the official Lisk Portal and the Lisk Migration Wallet. The process involves signing a message with your legacy Lisk L1 account to claim an equivalent 1:1 amount of the new ERC-20 tokens on the Lisk L2 network. Please note, a small amount of ETH on the Lisk L2 network is required to cover the gas fees for this claiming transaction.

For users who held LSK on most major exchanges, including LBank, during the May 2024 snapshot, the migration to the new L2 LSK token was generally handled automatically by the respective exchange. This means that if your tokens were with a centralized platform like LBank during that period, you should already find the new L2 LSK reflected in your account balance. It's always advisable to verify your holdings or contact your exchange's support if you have any questions.

Lisk has rebranded its mission to specifically focus on Real-World Assets (RWA) and Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN), particularly targeting emerging markets. It is now an integral part of the Optimism Superchain, a network of L2 chains that share the standardized OP Stack technology, facilitating seamless interoperability and shared security from Ethereum. The original Lisk L1 codebase was handed over to the community, rebranded as Klayr, and now operates as a separate project no longer managed by the Onchain Foundation.

With its transition to an Ethereum L2, Lisk adopted LSK 2.0, shifting from an inflationary model to a fixed supply. The total supply is capped at 400 million LSK, though a community vote has considered burning a portion of this. Token holders can now participate in on-chain governance via the Lisk DAO. This decentralized autonomous organization allows holders to vote on key decisions, including treasury allocations, protocol upgrades, and ecosystem grants, providing a direct voice in the project's development and future.

The old Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) system from the original L1 is no longer active. Lisk staking now occurs through a new L2 Staking mechanism or by participating in the Lisk DAO, where locking tokens provides rewards and voting power. Original Lisk L1 holders were eligible for a 1:1 Klayr (KLY) airdrop; claiming these often requires importing your L1 seed phrase into a Klayr-compatible wallet. Additionally, the project is running an extensive airdrop campaign for 2024–2025 to incentivize L2 activity, where users can earn additional LSK rewards through "Points" or "Quests" on the Lisk Portal.

If your LSK isn't visible in MetaMask, it's likely because you haven't added the Lisk L2 Network. You must manually add the Lisk L2 Network configuration to MetaMask (or use Chainlist) and then import the LSK ERC-20 contract address, which is `0xac485391EB2d7D88253a7F1eF18C37f4242D1A24` on L2. To move your LSK tokens, you can utilize the official Lisk Bridge. This bridge allows you to transfer your LSK from the Lisk L2 to Ethereum L1 Mainnet or to other Superchain networks like Base.
