Inception Restaked EIGEN, or ineigen, is a liquid restaked token (LRT) associated with the EIGEN token from the EigenLayer protocol. InceptionLRT was the platform that offered ineigen as a liquid restaking solution for EigenLayer's EIGEN token. The broader EIGEN token is a universal intersubjective work token developed for the EigenLayer ecosystem. Its primary function is to enable security for various digital tasks that require intersubjective agreement, meaning tasks where faults cannot always be objectively proven on-chain but can be agreed upon by multiple external observers. This expands the range of services that can leverage Ethereum's security model. EIGEN tokens are used for staking to validate tasks across Actively Validated Services (AVSs) and to incentivize or penalize operators based on their performance. InceptionLRT aimed to enhance the utility of EIGEN by allowing users to restake their EIGEN tokens and receive ineigen in return. This mechanism was designed to provide users with a liquid version of their staked EIGEN, enabling them to maintain liquidity while participating in restaking activities across decentralized finance (DeFi). By doing so, InceptionLRT sought to address potential liquidity locking issues within the EigenLayer framework. However, Inception, the restaking protocol responsible for ineigen, announced in July 2025 that it would cease operations. The reason cited was a failure to find a suitable product-market fit and a lack of liquidity rewards in shared security, making the protocol's continuation unsustainable.
