HMX (HMX) FAQ
What distinguishes HMX from other decentralized perpetual exchanges?
HMX focuses on capital efficiency, offering up to 1,000x leverage on crypto, Forex, and Commodities. It features a unique cross-margin and multi-collateral system, allowing users to use various assets—such as liquid staking tokens or liquidity provider tokens from other decentralized protocols—as a single pool of collateral. This distinguishes it from many other decentralized platforms that offer lower leverage and more restrictive collateral options.
How is HMX able to offer leverage as high as 1,000x?
The protocol utilizes a 'leveraged market making' model. By building on top of deep liquidity from leading decentralized protocols and re-hypothecating those assets, HMX can access the liquidity required to support significantly higher leverage and lower slippage for traders compared to traditional decentralized models.
What is the difference between HMX and the esHMX token?
HMX is the liquid governance token that can be freely traded. esHMX (Escrowed HMX) is a non-transferable reward token earned through protocol participation. While both can be staked to earn a share of protocol revenue, esHMX must undergo a one-year vesting period to be converted back into liquid HMX tokens.
How can users earn USDC rewards and what are Dragon Points?
Users earn USDC rewards by staking HMX or esHMX, as the protocol distributes 25% of its total revenue to stakers. Dragon Points (DP) are earned through staking and act as a multiplier, rewarding long-term participants with a larger share of the protocol revenue. Additionally, Traders' Loyalty Credits (TLC) are provided to active users to help offset trading costs.
What is the HLP Vault and what are its associated risks?
The HLP Vault is the liquidity provider pool where users act as market makers. It generates yield from HMX trading fees and external decentralized liquidity sources. However, HLP providers are the counterparty to traders; the vault's value increases when traders lose and decreases when traders make a profit, meaning providers are subject to the performance of the platform's traders.
What should holders expect regarding the 2025 rebranding and token migration?
In early 2025, HMX will undergo a major overhaul, including a complete rebranding and the introduction of a Central Limit Order Book (CLOB) model. A new token will launch in Q2 2025, allowing HMX holders to migrate at a 1:100 conversion ratio. The team also proposes burning a large portion of the uncirculated supply to improve the long-term tokenomics of the new ecosystem.
