Ditto Finance is a liquid staking protocol built on the Aptos blockchain. Its primary goal is to provide a more flexible staking solution for users within the Aptos ecosystem. In traditional staking, assets are often locked for a set period, making them illiquid and unavailable for other uses. Ditto addresses this by allowing users to stake their Aptos (APT) tokens and receive a liquid derivative token known as Ditto Staked Aptos (stAPT). The stAPT token is designed as a yield-bearing asset. When a user deposits APT into the Ditto protocol, they receive stAPT at a specific exchange rate. As the protocol earns staking rewards from the network, these rewards are added back into the staking pool. Rather than distributing new tokens, the protocol increases the value of stAPT relative to APT. This means that over time, each stAPT token becomes redeemable for a larger amount of the underlying APT. This mechanism allows holders to benefit from network security rewards while maintaining the ability to use their assets. One of the key advantages of stAPT is its integration across the Aptos decentralized finance (DeFi) landscape. Because it is a liquid token, users can participate in other activities such as lending, borrowing, or providing liquidity in decentralized exchanges without having to unstake their original APT. The project aims for stAPT to serve as a foundational building block or base asset for the entire Aptos DeFi ecosystem. Ditto offers two primary methods for users to reclaim their original assets. The first is a delayed unstaking process, which aligns with the native network lock-up periods and typically carries no additional protocol fees. The second is an instant unstake feature, which allows users to exit their position immediately by utilizing a liquidity pool, though this option usually involves a small fee to compensate for the immediate liquidity. The protocol is managed through a decentralized framework. It features a separate governance token called DTO, which allows the community to participate in decision-making processes and helps align the interests of users, validators, and developers. By lowering the technical barriers to staking and providing a liquid alternative to traditional locking mechanisms, Ditto seeks to enhance both network security and the overall utility of assets on the Aptos blockchain. The project focuses on security and robustness, aiming to provide a safe environment for users to earn rewards with minimal overhead.
