AVIAN is an open-source, decentralized blockchain platform specifically engineered for the creation and management of diverse digital assets, including tokens, NFTs, and securities. Launched in late 2021, the project originated as a fork of the Ravencoin Classic codebase. It was initially introduced under the name Ravencoin Lite (RVL) before rebranding to AVIAN (AVN) to establish a unique identity and expand its vision beyond its initial roots as a secondary version of another chain.

The core utility of the AVIAN network centers on asset tokenization. The platform enables users to issue custom tokens for various use cases, such as gaming assets, fractionalized real estate, or community-based rewards. Within this ecosystem, the native AVN token serves two primary functions: it is used to cover the costs associated with the creation and management of these assets and functions as the medium for paying network transaction fees.

AVIAN utilizes a Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism featuring a unique dual-algorithm setup designed to promote decentralization and accessibility. This structure allows for GPU mining via the X16RT algorithm and CPU mining through the MinotaurX algorithm. By supporting both hardware types, the network prevents high-powered ASIC miners from dominating the block production process, ensuring that individual participants using standard home computers can contribute to network security and earn rewards.

AVIAN features a maximum supply of 21 billion tokens. The network launched with a block reward of 2,500 AVN and a 30-second block time, facilitating rapid transaction processing. To manage inflation over time, the project incorporates a halving schedule that occurs every two years. Notably, AVIAN was launched with zero pre-mine and no developer allocation, ensuring a fair distribution where the development team acquires tokens through the same mining or purchasing methods as the general community.

Currently, AVIAN focuses on a UTXO-based model for asset management, prioritizing security and the efficient handling of tokens and NFTs. While it does not support complex smart contracts in the same way as some virtual machine-based chains, there are ongoing initiatives regarding decentralized finance (DeFi) integration. This includes exploring options for Wrapped Avian (WAVN) to enable cross-chain compatibility with EVM-compatible ecosystems, allowing the asset to interact with broader decentralized applications.

Users can trade AVN on various exchange platforms, including LBank. For secure storage and full participation in the network, the project offers a desktop Core wallet, which functions as a full node. Additionally, for those interacting with cross-chain versions of the asset, EVM-compatible wallets can be used to hold Wrapped Avian. To ensure a smooth experience when using the full-node wallet, users often utilize a bootstrap to sync the blockchain history more efficiently.
