An innovative aspect introduced by Qtum is offline staking, which allows users to participate in staking without needing to keep their wallets constantly online, by delegating their wallet address to a "Super Staker". QTUM is the native cryptocurrency of the Qtum network. It is used to pay transaction fees and enables holders to participate in the project's governance. Through its Decentralized Governance Protocol (DGP), the network allows for changes to core parameters, such as block size and gas fees, without requiring a hard fork for every update. The project was founded in 2016 and launched its mainnet in 2017. Qtum is designed to support decentralized applications (dApps), decentralized finance (DeFi), and Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications, making it suitable for a range of uses.
