The weight of a user's vote is directly proportional to the number of BONE tokens they hold. BONE also serves as the native gas token for Shibarium, which is Shiba Inu's Ethereum-based Layer-2 blockchain. In this role, BONE powers transactions, decentralized applications, and NFT mints on Shibarium. A portion of the fees from these transactions is automatically converted to SHIB and burned, which helps to reduce the circulating supply of SHIB. BONE is also used to reward validators and delegators within the Shibarium network. Within the ShibaSwap platform, BONE is used as a reward token for users who provide liquidity through a function called DIG. Users can also stake their SHIB, LEASH, or BONE tokens using the BURY function to earn BONE rewards, with the rewards being proportional to the amount and duration of the staked tokens. The BONE token was introduced in parallel with the launch of the ShibaSwap platform in July 2021, having been established by the team behind Shiba Inu.
